Obituary for Franklin W. Knauer

Franklin W.  Knauer
Franklin W. Knauer, Jr., 87, of the Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, formerly of Reinholds, entered into Jesus’ arms peacefully on Monday, October 26 2015. He was the beloved husband of Pauline (Leininger) Knauer for the past 68 years.
Frank was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church (formerly St John’s Lutheran) Denver.
He retired from a 34 year career as a truck driver with Glen Gery Brick Corporation where he was able to log 2.5 million miles without a lost time accident. He is also in the Truckers Hall of Fame in Chicago for each million miles.
After retiring, Frank spent many hours gardening; he loved having a huge garden and caring meticulously for it.
An avid hunter, spending many seasons with family locally in Lancaster County as well as trips to Potter County. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and comradery with family.
The son of the late Franklin G. and Edith (Walter) Knauer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Paul E., husband of Maxine (Blei) of Tucson, Arizona, and Marvin L. of Phoenixville, PA, and was dearly loved by his 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Frank is survived by two sisters, Ella, wife of Alvin Hollinger of Stevens, and Katheryn, wife of Earl Hertzog, Manheim; two brothers, George, husband of Merla (Hehnly) of Denver, and William, widower of Pauline (Zoll) of Stevens. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry.
There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony at Pleasant View’s Hoffer Chapel, 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim, on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Joseph Veres officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
