Obituary for Wesley E. Burd

Wesley E. Burd
Wesley "Wes" E. Burd went Home to walk with Jesus on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Hershey Medical Center while being surrounded by family. He endured a three and a half year battle with a brain tumor while always relying on faith to keep a positive attitude. He found peace and positivity through faith and was enrolled in seminary to help others through their battles with illness.

He is the son of Clarence Richard and Betty Jane (Adair) Burd. Wes is the husband of Dina (Snader) Burd. He is a daddy to Michelle Nicole and Steven Wesley Burd. He is the brother to James Allen (Christine), Christopher Lee, and Jason Richard (Jenn) Burd. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is a son-in-law to Luke and Elizabeth Snader.

He was a member of the Vinemont Lutheran Church and held many positions: Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, Council Member, and spiritual mentor to a church family whom he loved very much. Wes attended Cocalico High School where he prided himself in his volleyball days. Wes worked at various places including: Latshaw Brothers, Unifirst, Four Seasons, Bard, and lastly employed at Rubright Construction as a Safety Director. One of his many passions included playing and coaching volleyball. He coached at Cocalico High School, Ephrata High School, Antietam High School, and coached various club teams. Wes was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan who was waiting to relive the "glory days". He prided himself in raising his children "the right way" as Cowboys fans. He loved spending time in the outdoors with his family in Benezette, PA. He enjoyed making jokes and making people laugh. Faith, friends, and family were an extremely important part of his life, so in celebration of his life, we would love to rejoice in memories and good times.

The viewing will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 5pm to 8pm at Vinemont Lutheran Church, 1278 Fritztown Road, Reinholds. An additional viewing will be held before the services on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 9 to 11 at the church. Funeral services will follow with a service lead by Pastor Abera Hellemo at 11am at the church.

Memorial contributions in Wesley's memory may be made to Vinemont Lutheran Church, 1278 Fritztown Rd., Reinholds, PA 17569.
