R. Eugene Mellinger, 89, of Lititz, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at United Zion Retirement Community.

He was born in Lancaster to the late Leroy K. and Nettie (Young) Mellinger and was the devoted husband of the late Doris K. (Haldeman) Mellinger who passed away in 2008.

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Rothsville.

Eugene was owner of Twin Kiss Supply Co. in Ephrata before retiring. In earlier years, he was a salesman for Keebler Co. and Cooper Tobacco Co. Eugene and his wife also opened and operated a family restaurant in 1944, across from the Rothsville School, until 1949.

Eugene is survived by 2 daughters, Kandy J., wife of Roger Rohrer of Strasburg, Cindy S., wife of Donald Gunzenhauser, Jr. of Landisville; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and a sister, Ruth M. Moomey of St. Petersburg, FL.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the care Eugene received from United Zion Retirement Community staff during his stay.
