Obituary for Edna M. Schannauer

Edna M.  Schannauer
Edna M. Schannauer, 91, of Denver, formerly of Stevens, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Lancashire Hall, Lancaster.

She was born in Adamstown to the late Elmer and Edith (Keffer) Shirk and was the wife of the late Jacob S. Schannauer who died in 2008.

She was a member of Mellinger's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stevens and a life member of Schoeneck V.F.C. In the early years she worked for Leininger Knitting Mill in Denver and Mohnton, and in the cafeteria at the Schoeneck Elementary School. She enjoyed reading, coloring, beading, gardening, and canning.

Edna is survived by 2 sons, Paul S. Schannauer, husband of Helen K. (Fasnacht) of Denver, and Ray H. Schannauer, husband of Deborah A. (Specht) of Crestview, FL; a granddaughter, Melissa A., wife of Rick Rancourt of Crestview, FL; a great-grandson, Brayden Rancourt; 2 brothers, Henry Shirk of Shillington, and George Shirk of Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by 2 infant grandchildren, Scott and Sallie.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, from 9 to 10 am at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 am, with Rev. Timothy L. Craven and Rev. Dr. Ricky L. McCarl officiating. Interment will take place in the Mellinger's Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edna's memory may be made to Compassus, 2101 Oregon Pike, Suite 301, Lancaster, PA, 17601.
