Obituary for Paul P. McDonnell

Paul P.  McDonnell
Paul P. McDonnell, 70, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at his residence after a long illness with cancer.

He was born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late John and Eleanor (Murphy) McDonnell and was the husband of Joan (Szabo) McDonnell with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

Paul was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata. He grew up in NJ, previously lived in Bucks County for 33 years and recently moved to Lancaster County. Paul graduated from Sayreville High School and Kettering University (formerly known as General Motors Institute), MI, with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked for General Motors, Johnson and Johnson and other manufacturing companies until his retirement. Paul served in the US Army Reserves from 1970-1977.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Suzanne J., wife of Michael Walstrum of Kennett Square, Beth Ann, wife of Kenneth Neumann of Willow Street; a son, Justin R., husband of Erika McDonnell of London, England; five grandchildren that he adored, Michael, Matthew and Molly Neumann, Stella and Josephine McDonnell; a sister, Jane Buckiewicz of Brielle, NJ and a brother, John, husband of Joanne McDonnell of Sayreville, NJ.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 9 to 11am, at the Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 East Main Street, Ephrata, followed by his funeral service at 11 am, with Reverend Bob Shrom officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
