Obituary for Howard A. Good

Heaven gained an angel on Monday, February 5, 2018 when he took his VIP seat with his Lord. Howard A. Good, 64, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully at his home under hospice care.

He was born in Brownstown, to Minerva (Horning) and the late Warren E. Good.

He was a member of Alive Church.

He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on May 16, 2016. His care was managed through Johns Hopkins Hospital pancreatic team. Throughout his battle, he missed very little work and continued to work full-time until January 25, 2018. Howard was a well-respected, hardworking warehouse manager for Martins Furniture.

Howard was an amazing person who adored his time spent with his 3 children, grandchildren, family and friends. He enjoyed meals and gatherings together with his loved ones, especially at his favorite vacation spot, his cabin in Lock Haven. Many loved him. He had a huge heart full of love and kindness. This funny, lighthearted man could put a smile on anyone’s face. He was non-judgmental, forgave a lot, and was selfless and patient. He gave the most comforting, loving hugs and strong firm handshakes. He can be remembered best by his actions and of course his unique dancing! He taught so many people, so much, without needing to say much at all. He traveled the country hunting, which was his favorite pastime, with his children, close family, and friends. He was a Dallas Cowboy’s fan, seeing several games against the Philadelphia Eagles with his children. He was the first visitor to hold his grand boys at birth, soothe them to sleep when others failed, and created some of their best memories. He will be greatly missed by many but will live on in our hearts forever.
In addition to his mother, Howard is survived by 3 children, Jessica Good, Nicole Byers-Kauffman wife of Philip Kauffman, David J. Good; 6 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Madison, Colton, Rylan and Chase Pavlesich, Michael Kauffman; 2 sisters, Ivy Jo, wife of the late John Martin; Ginger, wife of Dale Martin and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy J. Kunkle.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM, at the Alive Church, 510 Stevens Road, Ephrata, with Pastor Peter C. Cook and Pastor Jeff High officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Howard's memory to Johns Hopkins University. MEMO: In memory of Howard A.
