Larry J. Horst, 75, of Stevens, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital, after a brief illness.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Jacob Z. and Leona Mae (Peachey) Horst and was the husband of Barbara L. (Wingenroth) Horst with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Larry was a 1960 graduate of Garden Spot High School. He served his country as a medic in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Larry was a fork lift operator at Case New Holland from 1962-1998 and from 1999-2011 he worked at Weaver’s Markets in the produce department. He enjoyed bird watching, NASCAR, fishing and caring for his pets. Larry showed his love by helping his family and they will miss his cooking and grilling skills.

In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by a daughter, Cindy L. Snodderly of Reading; a son, Kriston T., husband of Christy (Good) Horst of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Jenna (Snodderly), wife of Cody Shepp, Jolene Snodderly, Brendan and Kariann Horst; a brother, Leon, husband of Linda (Fassnacht) Horst and a sister, Nancy, wife of Randy Burkholder.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 3 to 4 pm, at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, followed by a memorial service at 4 pm. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
