Obituary for Joan B. Weaver (Yecker)

Joan B. Weaver, 83, of Akron, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Calvary Homes.

She was born in Ephrata to the late John N. and Helen M. (Buch) Yecker and was the wife of the late Earl R. "Tony" Weaver who passed away in 2010.

She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Akron. She had a love of gardening and was a servant. She enjoyed knitting items for people. She also enjoyed dogs and birds.

Joan graduated from Lancaster General School of Nursing. She was an RN for Ephrata Hospital, then a visiting nurse and later an RN for Akron Family Practice. In 1975, she became partners with her late husband, Tony, in purchasing Weavers Feed Mill.

Joan is survived by a son, David J., husband of Lola (Love) Weaver of Narvon; a daughter, Diane M. Millhouse of Ephrata; 4 grandchildren, Amanda, wife of Tyler Thorsen, Heath Weaver, fiancé of Abby Rhoads, Nicholas Bottenfield, Justine Millhouse; 2 sisters, Helen B., wife of Jacob I. Burkholder of Ephrata, Martha Y., wife of James V. Fulmer of Lancaster and a brother-in-law, Robert L., husband of Margaret Weaver of Morgantown.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018, from 10 to 11 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church, 435 Main Street, Akron, followed by funeral services at 11 AM, with Pastor Matthew Lenahan officiating. Interment will take place in the Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery.
