Obituary for Dr. William Brenner Bixler

Dr. William Brenner Bixler, 87, of New Holland, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Garden Spot Village.

He was born in Lancaster to the late William and Lillian (Brenner) Bixler and was the husband of the late Betty Lou (Brown) Bixler and the late Rosalie (Kibler) Bixler.

Bill was a charter member of The Community Church at Garden Spot Village. He served as a member of the finance committee.

A graduate of Ephrata High School, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Franklin and Marshall College and his Doctorate at the University of PA Veterinary School. Bill practiced as a Veterinarian in the Ephrata area for 17 years before joining the Bureau of Veterinary Medicine in the Food and Drug Administration where he served for 21 years. He was a member of the Piedmont Shrine Club, Charlottesville, VA, 32 Degree Consistory, Knight Temple, Royal Arch Chapter, and Master Mason. He served on the Ephrata Area School Board for 13 years, past president and member of Conestoga Veterinary Assoc., Lancaster and past officer and member of PA Veterinary Medical Assoc. Bill retired as a Veterinarian in 1990.

Bill loved his family. He enjoyed boating and had the opportunity to travel the world with his job and for pleasure.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara, wife of Earl Stauffer of Ephrata; Brenda, wife of Robert Nencioni of Centreville, VA; a son, Barry, husband of Rose Bixler of Boynton Beach, FL. 4 step daughters, Sharon, wife of Robert Miseyko of Culpepper, VA; Ann Boyd, companion of Cris Andersen of Culpepper, VA; Sally, wife of Douglas Coleman of Culpepper, VA; Rolli, wife of Jack Tyler of Culpepper, VA. 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Stauffer), wife of Todd Wilkerson of Ephrata; Kimberly (Stauffer), wife of Bradley Keeney of Denver; Matthew, husband of Shana (Eisenman) Stauffer of Cornwall; Natalie (Nencioni), wife of Brian Hazelwood of Fairfax, VA. 8 great grandchildren, Nicole, Kyle and Tori Wilkerson; Tayler, Brianna, Dalton and Hunter Keeney; Colby Willis; 9 step grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place on Monday, April 14, at 11 AM, in the Chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S Kinzer Ave, New Holland, with Chaplain Chet Yoder officiating. A Masonic service will take place for the family at a private interment.
