Obituary for Linda S. Conaway (Sides)

Linda S.  Conaway (Sides)
Linda S. Conaway, RN, 66, of Akron, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2014, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

She was born in Harrisburg to the late Richard and Martha "Marty" (Stoner) Sides and was the wife of John "Jack" W. Conaway with whom she shared 44 years of marriage.

Linda was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ephrata, where she served on the compassion committee, extension ministries and children’s security team. She took missionary trips to Kentucky and also volunteered for Love INC. Linda was a 1965 graduate of Ephrata High School and a graduate of the Germantown School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for 43 years, working at the Ephrata Community Hospital and then retiring from Lancaster General Hospital.


In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Greg, husband of Teresa Conaway of Lancaster; a daughter, Anne, wife of Hans Brubaker of Ephrata; a brother, Thomas E., husband of Leslie Sides of Easton, MD; 4 granddaughters, Kylee Conaway, Ashley Horn, Ali Murphy, Lena Brubaker and numerous nieces and nephews.


A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at the Mt Zion Evangelical Cemetery, Akron, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 68 N. Church St., Ephrata, with Pastor Walter Carter officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Linda's memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Compassion Fund, 68 N. Church St., Ephrata, PA 17522, or Hospice and Community Care, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
