George E. Stricker, Jr., 79, a resident of Ephrata Manor, formerly of Denver, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Denver to the late George E. and Mary E. (Troxel) Stricker and was the husband of the late Marilyn L. (Burkey) Stricker who passed away in 2008.

George was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and spending time at his cabin in the mountains. He was a big supporter of the Denver Fire Co. Bingo, and he was a member of the Friendly Horseman's Club.

He worked as a farmer, and a horseman for Kurtz's Riding Stable in Denver and also worked for Gene Martin at Chaparral Farms in Schoeneck. In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking and going to public auctions.

George is survived by 2 daughters, Tracy A. Stricker of Denver, and Amy B., wife of Kevin Shirk of Denver; a grandson, Nathaniel E. Shirk; a brother, Jim Stricker, husband of Kathleen (Adams); a sister, MaryJane Amour; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Stricker.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017, from 6 to 8 pm at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. An additional viewing will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 12 to 1 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Timothy L. Craven officiating. Interment will take place in the Steinmetz Cemetery.
