Chester B. Burkholder, 77, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday morning, May 11, 2017, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital, following a brief illness.

A builder, he was a member of Springville Mennonite Church. Born in Ephrata Twp., he was the son of the late Chester M. Burkholder and Nora S. Burkholder Weaver and was the husband of the late Esther Mae Martin.

Chester is survived by 4 sons, Roger M., married to Shirley (Horning) Burkholder of Stevens, Chester M., married to Joyce (Nolt) Burkholder, Gary M., married to Jalisa (Martin) Burkholder, both of Denver, Daryl M., married to Janelle (Weaver) Burkholder of Ephrata; 4 daughters, Marilyn M., married to John W. Sensenig of Cato, NY, Karen M., married to Nelson L. Sensenig of Red Creek, NY, Julia M., married to Wilmer H. Good of Narvon, Jeanette M., married to Richard M. Hoover of Denver; 64 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren; two brother, Walter B., married to Martha H. Good of New Holland, Vernon B., married to Edith Z, Stauffer of Ickesburg and one sister-in-law, Elva D. Martin of Peach Bottom.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death one brother, Delmas B. Burkholder, one grandson and three great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Farm Crest Chapel, Fairmount Homes, 1100 Farm Crest Drive, Ephrata. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 8:45 AM at the Farm Crest Chapel with further services at 9:30 AM from Springville Mennonite Church, 580 Springville Rd., Ephrata, with Bishop Melvin Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
