Esther N. Hoover, 89, of Leola, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at her home.

She was born in East Earl Twp. to the late John and Ada (Nolt) Hoover and was the wife of the late Aaron N. Hoover who preceded her in death September 24, 2014.

She was a member of Conestoga Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Esther is survived by 8 sons, Leon (Lucy Snyder) Hoover, John Aaron (Elizabeth Nolt) Hoover, Enos Hoover, Ivan Hoover, Paul (Eva Weaver) Hoover, all of Shippensburg, Roy (Martha Weaver) Hoover, Amon (Erma Burkholder) Hoover, both of Hopkinsville, KY, Norman (Jennifer Gehman) Hoover of Selinsgrove; 2 daughters, Emma Hoover, Ella (Ivan) Sauder, both of Leola; 61 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; 2 half-sisters, Fannie Hoover, Eva Hoover, both of New Holland; a half-brother, Ivan (Mary) Hoover of Shippensburg; 2 sisters-in-law, Alice (Walter) Hoover of Churchtown, Ella (John) Hoover of Dorchester, WI; half-sisters-in-law Jean (Eli) Hoover of New Holland.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 daughters-in-law, Mary and Anna Hoover; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Paul, Walter, Isaac and John Aaron Hoover; 4 sisters, Alice Hoover, Lena Reiff, Lydia Hoover, and Emma Burkholder; 2 half-brothers, Eli and Henry Hoover and a half-sister, Elizabeth Hoover.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the late residence, 363 Glenbrook Road, Leola. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017, at 8:45 AM at the late residence, with further services at 9:30 AM from the Conestoga Mennonite Church, N. Farmersville Road, Ephrata, with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
