Obituary for Ruth A. Keener (Nolt)

Ruth A.  Keener (Nolt)
Ruth A. Keener, passed away on September 13, 2017, in Springfield, IL. She was born to Esther B. and Paul S. Nolt on July 20, 1942 in Warwick Township, near Lititz, PA. Her husband Herbert W. Keener, Sr. died in 2005.

Ruth graduated from Warwick High School in 1960 and The Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. For 38 years she worked in hospitals and/or nursing homes in PA, WV, and IL.

She was a member of Riverton Christian Church, Riverton, IL.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her stillborn son, Phillip M. Moore, her son Ralph M. Moore II, an infant sister, and 2 brothers, John and Luke Nolt.

She is survived by her daughter, Regina Arlene Moore Gies (Jerry); 2 step-children, Herbert Keener, Jr.( Paula) and Alyce A. Keener; 1 granddaughter, Brittany M. Moore; 2 step-grandchildren; 8 siblings, Mary Nolt, Lois Landis, James Nolt (Maryann), David Nolt (Ruth), Daniel Nolt(Cindy), Esther Boas (David) Anna Marie Reeser (Bob), and Miriam Ginder (Robin); lots of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and some great-great nieces and nephews.

Ruth enjoyed communicating with family and friends by visits, phone calls, cards, e-mails, and Facebook. She liked going to church and Bible studies and was actively involved member for as long as she was able. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, some gardening, and the companionship of her cats.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, from 9 to 10 AM at the Ebenezer Evangelical Congregational Church, 23 S. State Street, Brownstown, PA, followed by funeral services at 10 AM with Pastor Scott Phillips officiating. Interment will take place in the Hess Mennonite Cemetery.
